Blackboard Connect Emergency Notification System

The Blackboard Connect Notification System is a high volume - high speed Communication Service available for mass Emergency Notifications. Blackboard Connect employs a one-of-a-kind Internet mapping capability for geographic targeting of calls, coupled with a high speed telephone calling system capable of delivering customized pre-recorded emergency messages directly to homes and businesses at the proven capacity of millions of calls per day. Blackboard Connect subscribers control their emergency broadcasts from anywhere in the world via a secure Internet web site. Blackboard Connect offers an unprecedented level of security, robustness, performance, and ease-of-use for government agencies, communities, and businesses.

Coweta has expanded the Blackboard Connect system to include severe weather warnings. NOAA Weather Warning is an early telephone warning system designed to automatically deliver targeted weather notifications for the immediate threats of severe thunderstorm warnings, flash flood warnings and tornado warnings within moments of being issued by the National Weather Service (NWS).

Blackboard Connect Weather Warning will deliver a pre-recorded alert message directly to your resident’s phones in the projected path of the severe weather. The system automatically sends these notifications providing you the needed time to prepare. This becomes even more critical if a tornado comes through our area during the night, when television, radio broadcasts and sirens are ineffective.

For more information or to add cell phones to the account you should contact Tom Tillotson, Emergency Management Director for the City of Coweta at 918 486-2189.  This service is available for residents of the City of Coweta only.
