The Public Works Director performs a variety of complex tasks. The director is responsible for supervision, administrative, and professional work in planning, organizing, directing, and supervising the Public Works Authority, which includes water, sewer, streets, parks and recreation, refuse, and the cemetery. The director works under the general guidance and direction of the City Manager.
His essential duties and responsibilities include the supervision of his staff, either directly of through subordinates. He determines public works needs and formulates short and long range plans to meet the needs in the Public works Authority. He oversees project management of construction projects that are related to public works improvements.
He maintains regular contact with consulting engineers, construction project engineers, City, County, State, and Federal agencies, professional and technical groups, and the general public regarding division activities and services.
