Draft Flood Maps and Flood Insurance Study of Broken Arrow Creek Issued by FEMA
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has completed a study of Broken Arrow Creek and has issued a preliminary draft of revised Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) and Flood Insurance Study (FIS).
FEMA has posted digital copies of the revised preliminary maps and study at: http://www.fema.gov/preliminaryfloodhazarddata.
There is also an interactive mapping tool available at: http://maps.riskmap6.com/OK/Wagoner/ This interactive tool allows communities to review the flood risk at any known address.
FEMA will be contacting Wagoner County communities, including the City of Coweta and the City of Broken Arrow, to schedule a meeting in the near future to discuss the revised flood hazard information.
Copies of the preliminary revised maps and study are being made available before the meeting, for review at Coweta City Hall, 310 S. Broadway St., Coweta, Oklahoma. Residents and interested parties are encouraged to review these materials to identify changes or corrections to non-technical information, such as corporate limits, road names, and stream names on the maps and report.
