Welcome to Greg Collins

Posted on 10/30/2013 by Simon Williams

We are excited to welcome to Coweta our new Community Development Director, Greg Collins. Greg started work for the City on October 28th 2013.

Greg was recruited from the City of Catoosa, where he served as City Planner. He is a native Oklahoman, born and raised in Norman, and is a graduate of Norman High School. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and a law degree from the University of Chicago. He worked in the private sector as a financial analyst and attorney in Chicago, Illinois and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, advocating for small businesses, companies, and individuals dealing with government regulations. He moved to Fort Worth, Texas, joining a team improving the U.S. Small Business Administration’s process in providing loans to small businesses and homeowners recovering from storm disasters.

While working in Fort Worth, he earned a Master’s Degree in City and Regional Planning at the University of Texas at Arlington in 2011. There he studied planning and community development in rural, smaller cities located near growing metropolitan areas. One of his areas of study and interest is preserving and revitalizing historic, rural downtowns and attracting quality commercial, retail, and residential development, while still preserving the community’s unique history, identity and neighborhoods. Greg stated that he is very impressed by the community. “Coweta has a long, treasured history as a railroad town, a farm-to-market town. We have a great downtown and quiet, rural neighborhoods. We’re on major transportation corridors. I am excited and proud to be a part of the team to help residents and business owners identify their vision and goals for the community. I want to help them achieve their full potential, while helping preserve and maintain the hometown quality and character of the community.” We are excited and glad to have Greg on board.
